The pyramid-shaped stone monument and accompanying pedestals commemorate the various contributions made by African Americans to the growth and development of St. Mary’s County. It was erected by members of the Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributions (UCAC) in Elmer Brown Freedom Park in Lexington Park, St. Mary’s County.
