Calvert Historical Society: Albert Cassell’s Calvert Town

History

Albert Cassell (1895-1969) was a noted architect who worked at Howard University and designed buildings for colleges and other institutions.  Cassell developed a plan and sought to build a summer resort community on 500 acres outside of Prince Frederick that would include houses, a motel, shopping centers, a pier, a marina, beaches, and a clubhouse.  While a few houses were built, he died before his project could be realized.
