Harold T. Herndon, Sr
A Man for All Seasons: Air Force Major, educator, musician, corporation founder, president and CEO

Harold T. Herndon, Sr. is a retired Air Force Major and graduate from the United States Air Force Academy. He was an educator for 20 years serving as an instrumental music educator and administrator in the St. Mary’s County public school system. He earned a Master’s Degree in Administration from the University of Maryland.
When Harold arrived in St. Mary’s County in 1960 during segregation, he introduced instrumental music education to Carver High School. Harold went from having students that knew very little about instruments to winning awards. Through Harold’s love of music, he was invited to join a local musical group called The Impacts, which performed at various locations in town and on the military base.
Harold married Catherine Thompson from Lexington Park, Maryland and they had several children. When his family home burned down around 1980 and the musical equipment was in the home, the group stopped playing together. Around that time, Harold became co-founder of the Compliance Corporation, an engineering and information technology support services company.
