The Patuxent River Naval Air Station was built across 25 miles of shoreline at the mouth of the Patuxent River overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. It Brought major changes in the economy and population demographics in St. Mary’s County. Many African Americans were forced to move off their land due to the Navy’s claim of Eminent Domain.
